Abstract:
Recent advances of molecular biology uncovered novel regulatory mechanisms of bone remodeling such as neuronal control of bone remodeling. Of these, leptin-serotonin-sympathetic nervous system pathway plays a major role as evident from the fact that beta-blockers reduced the risk of osteoporotic fractures in human. MicroRNA, a major class of non-coding RNA, is also a new player in the field of bone remodeling. Neuronal and microRNA-dependent pathways are promising candidates for new therapeutic applications for osteoporosis treatment.
