Summary

Thyroid lymphoma has a 68% five-year survival rate, contrary to expectations of an excellent prognosis. Early diagnosis and dual-modality treatment improve outcomes for this uncommon malignancy.

  • Five-year survival rate was 68%, with most deaths due to lymphoma.
  • Dysphagia significantly correlated with poor prognosis (p=0.001).
  • Dual-modality treatment yielded better outcomes than single-modality treatment (p=0.014).

Conclusions:

  • Thyroid surgery is primarily diagnostic, not therapeutic.
  • Improved diagnostic pathways are needed, as 51% of patients underwent thyroidectomy.
  • Outcome is not linked to presentation severity; rapid treatment response is possible.
