Background:

  • Left atrial (LA) size and function are vital indicators of cardiovascular health.
  • Standardized reference values for LA parameters are essential for accurate interpretation of cardiac CT angiography (CTA) datasets.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To establish CT-based normal reference values for left atrial volume, function, and diameter.
  • To normalize these parameters by age, sex, and body surface area (BSA).

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of 74 subjects undergoing ECG-gated coronary CTA.
  • Measurement of LA volume (end-diastolic, end-systolic, stroke volume) and function (ejection fraction) using the Simpson method.
  • General linear model analysis adjusted for age, sex, and BSA.
