Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare surgical intervention choices for lower extremity occlusive disease based on duplex scan versus arteriogram data.
  • To assess the impact of imaging modality on clinical decision-making.

  • Six vascular surgeons reviewed anonymized patient data including clinical information, ankle blood pressures, and imaging results (duplex scan or arteriogram).
  • Surgeons made treatment decisions in a blinded manner for 29 patients.
  • Intervention choices were compared using the kappa statistic to evaluate intraobserver and interobserver agreement.
