  • MGL scores strongly correlated with OSDI scores (r=0.89, p=0.001) and lipid layer patterns (r=-0.68, p=0.001).
  • MGL was significantly higher in females (p=0.001).
  • Meibomian Gland Loss (MGL) demonstrated high predictive accuracy for dry eye symptoms (AUC=95.8%).

Conclusions:

  • Meibomian Gland Loss (MGL) measured via infra-red meibography is a predictive indicator of dry eye symptoms.
  • The non-contact IR meibograph shows significant utility in assessing tear film and dry eye conditions.
