Abstract:
We report a case of angiosarcoma of the pericardium in a 62-year-old man. Although the lack of myocardial adhesions allowed complete surgical exeresis, and despite chemotherapy, the patient died three months later because of early recurrence. Large, undifferentiated areas were found within the tumor, raising diagnostic problems with other malignant tumors of the heart. Histochemical, immunohistochemical, and ultrastructural studies confirmed the diagnosis of angiosarcoma.
