Background:

  • Childhood granulomatous periorificial dermatitis (CGPD), also known as facial Afro-Caribbean childhood eruption (FACE), is a rare skin condition.
  • It is characterized by granulomatous inflammation around the mouth, nose, and eyes in prepubescent children.

Observation:

  • A 9-year-old girl presented with a 2-month history of multiple, discrete, monomorphic papular eruptions.
  • The lesions were predominantly located on the perioral and periocular areas.

Findings:

  • Histopathological examination revealed an upper dermal and perifollicular granulomatous infiltrate.
  • This confirmed the diagnosis of childhood granulomatous periorificial dermatitis.

Implications:

  • CGPD is a benign condition that typically resolves spontaneously without scarring.
  • Understanding the histopathological features aids in accurate diagnosis and management of pediatric facial rashes.
