Central dopamine and serotonin turnover in schizophrenia

Schizophrenia patients showed significantly lower levels of 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) compared to controls, while homovanillic acid (HVA) levels did not differ significantly. These findings suggest altered serotonin metabolism in schizophrenia.
