Broken heart during treadmill exercise testing: an unusual cause of ST-segment elevation

Transient left ventricular apical ballooning syndrome, or takotsubo cardiomyopathy, can cause ST-segment elevation during treadmill exercise testing. This reversible condition, triggered by stress, offers a novel explanation for exercise-induced ST elevation.
