Colposacropexy (CSP) using polypropylene mesh is a safe and effective surgical option for vaginal vault prolapse. This procedure restores normal vaginal axis and maintains vaginal length with minimal complications.

Area of Science:

  • Urogynecology
  • Pelvic reconstructive surgery

Background:

  • Vaginal vault prolapse is a common complication after hysterectomy.
  • Previous surgical treatments may not provide lasting results.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the safety and efficacy of colposacropexy (CSP) using polypropylene mesh for vaginal vault prolapse.
  • To assess long-term outcomes and patient satisfaction after CSP.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of 59 patients who underwent CSP with polypropylene mesh.
  • Patients had a history of hysterectomy and varying degrees of pelvic organ prolapse.
  • Postoperative outcomes were assessed via a questionnaire.

Main Results:

  • Minimal intraoperative complications and acceptable postoperative issues were reported.

Related Experiment Videos

  • 89% of patients responded to the questionnaire.
  • No patients reported vaginal protrusion post-surgery.
  • Conclusions:

    • Colposacropexy (CSP) is a safe and effective procedure for vaginal vault prolapse when performed by experienced surgeons.
    • CSP restores normal vaginal axis, maintains vaginal length, and offers permanent repair.
    • It should remain the preferred surgical option for vaginal vault prolapse.
