Summary

Neurocutaneous syndromes (NCS) in children often present with skin abnormalities and neurological issues. Skin lesion evolution does not predict neurological complications in these pediatric patients.

Background:

  • Neurocutaneous syndromes (NCS) are genetic disorders characterized by skin abnormalities and increased risk of neurological complications.
  • Cutaneous manifestations typically appear early, while neurological features often present later in childhood.
  • Limited data exists on the progression of skin lesions and their correlation with central nervous system involvement in pediatric NCS cases.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To longitudinally track the progression of skin lesions in various pediatric neurocutaneous syndromes.
  • To determine if skin lesion evolution can predict neurological manifestations in children with NCS.

  • Prospective longitudinal study at a tertiary pediatric dermatology clinic.
