Serum Fibroblast Growth Factor-21 (FGF-21) levels are elevated in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. FGF-21 correlates with key cardiometabolic risk factors and may contribute to T2DM development.

- Fasting insulin, HOMA-IR, LDL cholesterol, and hsCRP were independent predictors of serum FGF-21, which was significantly associated with T2DM.
Conclusions:
- Serum FGF-21 levels are elevated in T2DM patients.
- Increased FGF-21 may play a role in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
