A heuristic is a general problem-solving framework (Tversky & Kahneman, 1974). You can think of these as mental shortcuts that are used to solve problems.     The Index of Complexity, Outcome and Need (ICON) is a new index developed by orthodontists. It assesses orthodontic treatment needs using five key components for patient eligibility in public funding.
