Purpose of the Study:

  • To characterize the preoperative upper limb lymphoscintigraphic patterns in women diagnosed with breast cancer.

  • Lymphoscintigraphy was performed on 37 breast cancer patients within 30 days of surgery.
  • Tc-99m-dextran was injected into the dorsum of the hand, with images acquired at 10 minutes, 1 hour, and 2 hours.
  • Analysis focused on the velocity of axillary lymph node visualization and the intensity of nodal uptake.

  • Optimal lymphatic function (Ia) was observed in 11% of ipsilateral and 19% of contralateral upper limbs.
