Mucosal atrophy in collagenous colitis: a case report.

- Advanced segmental mucosal atrophy was a novel finding in later colonoscopies.
- The observed atrophy was localized to the proximal colon, specifically the cecum.

- The findings suggest that factors beyond collagen deposition, potentially luminal, may contribute to mucosal atrophy in CC.
