Area of Science:

  • Public Health
  • Behavioral Science
  • Digital Health Interventions

Background:

  • Developing tailored smoking cessation interventions for diverse socio-economic groups is crucial.
  • Web-based computer-tailored feedback offers a scalable approach.
  • Understanding differential effects based on socio-economic status (SES) and delivery mode (text vs. video) is needed.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To describe the development and design of two computer-tailored smoking cessation programs.
  • To test the differential effects of web-based text and video-driven tailored approaches.
  • To investigate these effects in lower socio-economic status (LSES) and higher socio-economic status (HSES) smokers.

Main Methods:

  • A randomized controlled trial with a 2 (video/text) x 2 (LSES/HSES) design.
