Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare evaluation times and detection rates between single-view and quadview CE reading modes.
  • To determine the optimal setting for efficient and accurate CE video interpretation.

Main Methods:

  • Seventy CE videos were reviewed by two investigators.
  • Videos were analyzed using single-view at 10 frames per second (fps) and quadview at 20 fps.
  • Indications included obscure bleeding, Crohn's disease, and celiac disease.

Main Results:

  • Quadview mode at 20 fps reduced mean evaluation time from 22 min to 11.9 min.
  • Detection rates for lesions like angiodysplasias and ulcers were only slightly lower in quadview mode.
  • Diagnostic yield for Crohn's and celiac disease was comparable, though one lymphoma-suspect lesion was missed in quadview mode.

Conclusions:

  • Quadview mode at 20 fps offers a significant reduction in CE video evaluation time.
  • This faster reading speed can be achieved without substantially compromising diagnostic accuracy.
  • Optimized quadview settings can improve the efficiency of small intestine capsule endoscopy analysis.
