5-Cyclo-pentyl-2-(4-fluoro-phen-yl)-3-methyl-sulfinyl-1-benzofuran
Abstract:
In the title compound, C(20)H(19)FO(2)S, the cyclo-pentyl ring adopts an envelope conformation. The 4-fluoro-phenyl ring makes a dihedral angle of 27.10 (7)° with the mean plane of the benzofuran fragment. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π inter-actions. In the cyclo-pentyl ring, one C atom is disordered over two orientations with site-occupancy factors of 0.617 (7) and 0.383 (7).

Nomenclature of Aromatic Compounds with Multiple Substituents
For disubstituted benzene derivatives, with two groups attached to the benzene ring, three constitutional isomers are possible. For example, consider dimethyl benzene, often called xylene, where the second methyl group can be substituted at the second, third, or fourth carbon. The relative position of the substituents is represented by prefixes ortho, meta, or...
