Background:

Hospital Information System (HIS) adoption is rising, impacting nursing practice.
Nurses' attitudes significantly influence HIS implementation success.
Limited research exists on factors affecting nurses' HIS attitudes and satisfaction.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate nurses' attitudes and satisfaction levels with Hospital Information System (HIS) use.
To identify key factors influencing nurses' perceptions and satisfaction with HIS.
To inform HIS development and implementation strategies based on user needs.

Main Methods:

Cross-sectional survey design.
Stratified random sampling of 342 nurses in a Hong Kong private hospital.
Data collected via questionnaire on perceptions, satisfaction, and attitudes; analyzed using correlations and linear regressions.

Main Results:

Work units, perceived usefulness, and IT support predict nurses' attitudes and satisfaction with HIS.
Higher perceived ease of use and satisfaction correlate with positive attitudes towards HIS.
Nurses' satisfaction is a distinct factor influencing their attitudes toward HIS.

Conclusions:

HIS user-friendliness enhances nurse satisfaction and engagement, potentially improving patient care through efficiency.
Nurse managers should foster a culture of acceptance for IT innovation.
