Summary

Becker's nevus, a common skin condition, typically appears as a unilateral patch in adult men. This report details a rare case of Becker's nevus presenting segmentally on a teenage boy's face and oral mucosa.

Area of Science:

  • Dermatology
  • Clinical Case Reports
  • Medical Genetics

Background:

  • Becker's nevus (BN) is a common, benign melanotic epidermal hypermelanosis.
  • Typically presents as unilateral hyperpigmentation and hypertrichosis on the trunk of adult males.
  • Variations in presentation, including bilateral or multiple lesions and atypical locations, are documented.

Observation:

  • A 16-year-old male presented with two distinct Becker's nevi.
  • Lesions were located on the left side of the face in a segmental distribution.
  • Extension of the nevus onto the oral mucosa was noted.

Findings:

  • The case demonstrates a rare segmental facial presentation of Becker's nevus.
  • The involvement of oral mucosa represents an unusual feature.
