Observation:

  • A 75-year-old woman presented with six months of watery diarrhea.
  • Endoscopic biopsies revealed continuous collagenous colitis with significant basal membrane thickening (30 microns).

Findings:

  • The patient also exhibited collagenous gastroduodenitis.
  • Histopathology showed band-like collagen deposition in the duodenum and stomach, associated with partial villous atrophy.

Implications:

  • This case underscores the potential for concomitant collagenous conditions in the upper and lower GI tract.
