Summary

Virtual reality simulator training alone did not significantly improve laparoscopic suturing skills in a nonsupervised setting. Both trained and untrained groups showed similar skill improvements after practice.

  • Crucially, no statistically significant difference in the magnitude of skill improvement was observed between the two groups.

Conclusions:

  • VR simulator training alone may not be sufficient to enhance laparoscopic suturing skills.
  • Further research is needed to determine optimal training protocols that integrate VR simulation effectively.
