HMM-based lexicon-driven and lexicon-free word recognition for online handwritten Indic scripts

This study introduces novel data-driven, script-independent methods for recognizing handwritten Indic words. Combining Hidden Markov Model (HMM) techniques improved Devanagari recognition, while a lexicon-driven approach excelled for Tamil.
