Summary

This case report details a rare instance of a simultaneous left wrist lunate dislocation and left elbow posterior dislocation. Successful surgical repair led to significant pain reduction and return to work.

  • The patient sustained these injuries from a fall onto his outstretched left hand.

Findings:

  • The elbow dislocation was managed with closed reduction.
  • The wrist dislocation required open reduction, carpal tunnel decompression, and Kirschner wire fixation via a volar approach.
  • Surgical repair also included the scapholunate and radioscaphocapitate ligaments.

Implications:

  • This case highlights a successful treatment protocol for a complex upper extremity injury.
  • Prompt surgical intervention can lead to favorable outcomes, including pain relief and return to pre-injury activities.
  • This case contributes to the understanding of managing combined wrist and elbow dislocations.
