    Summary

    Anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) agents can cause demyelinating diseases like optic neuritis (ON). Withdrawal of TNF blockers and glucocorticoid treatment led to a good outcome in a rheumatoid arthritis patient experiencing ON.

    • A 53-year-old woman with refractory rheumatoid arthritis developed ON.
    • The patient experienced ON after her fourth dose of infliximab.
    • Symptoms of ON resolved favorably after discontinuing the anti-TNF agent and initiating glucocorticoid therapy.

    Findings:

    • This case adds to the literature on TNF blocker-induced ON.
    • The review of previous cases provides further context for this adverse event.
