[Patient with high risk of caries. Definition, epidemiology and clinical aspects]

Epidemiological studies have shown that there is a small group of patients with high caries prevalence. This survey illustrates the clinical picture of caries-active patients on the basis of exemplary cases and defines a number of terms which are important in this context. In addition to this, possible causes of an increased caries risk are discussed.
