    • A task force comprising leaders from major critical care societies (AACN, ACCP, ATS, SCCM) and USCIITG was formed.
    • 25 experts were divided into subgroups focusing on basic, translational, clinical, implementation, and educational research.
    • Subgroups convened via conference calls, with a final in-person meeting to discuss research priorities.

    Main Results:

    • Identified challenges, priority areas, and recommendations for improving critical care research processes.
    • Four themes emerged: modifying siloed approaches, linking research areas, accounting for patient complexity, and enhancing research infrastructure.
