Impacted mandibular second molars (MdM2s) are a clinical concern.
Understanding their prevalence and treatment is crucial for orthodontic planning.

Purpose of the Study:

To determine the prevalence and severity of impacted MdM2s in Taiwan.
To evaluate treatment outcomes using an innovative uprighting appliance.

Main Methods:

Retrospective analysis of 21,580 dental records.
Detailed assessment of 125 impacted MdM2s in 96 patients.
Radiographic measurement of impaction angles and depths.

Prevalence of MdM2 impaction was 0.65% in the Taiwanese population.
