Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the effect of nitrendipine on airway responsiveness to histamine in patients with chronic stable asthma.
  • To assess the safety and tolerability of nitrendipine in this patient population.

Main Methods:

  • A double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over study was conducted.
  • Eight patients with chronic stable asthma underwent histamine challenge tests.
  • Nitrendipine or placebo was administered prior to the challenge.
