  • To investigate the effect of vitamin E on blood pressure and adhesion molecules in diabetic rats.

Main Methods:

  • Twenty-four Wistar rats were divided into control, diabetic, and vitamin E-treated diabetic groups.
  • Diabetes was induced using streptozotocin; vitamin E was administered orally for six weeks.
  • Blood pressure parameters and plasma levels of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) and E-selectin were measured.

Main Results:

  • Diabetic rats showed significantly increased systolic/diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure, and adhesion molecules (ICAM-1, E-selectin).
  • Vitamin E treatment led to significant improvements in blood pressure and reduced levels of ICAM-1 and E-selectin.
