Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) is the most accurate method for identifying coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS). Combining Vitek2 with tuf gene sequencing also provides excellent identification accuracy for CoNS.
