- To enhance understanding of cardiorenal syndrome pathophysiology.
Main Methods:
- Literature review of cardiorenal syndrome.
- Analysis of interactions between cardiovascular and renal systems.
- Synthesis of current knowledge from a cardiology viewpoint.
Main Results:
- The concept of cardiorenal syndrome has evolved significantly.
- Improved understanding facilitates better patient recognition and treatment.
- Pathophysiological insights are crucial for improving patient outcomes.
Conclusions:
- A comprehensive understanding of cardiorenal syndrome is essential.
- Cardiologists play a vital role in managing cardiorenal syndrome.
- Further research into cardiorenal interactions can improve patient prognosis.
Abstract:
The term cardiorenal syndrome has evolved over the years. The understanding of the interactions between these two organ systems has led to better recognition and treatment strategies. As cardiovascular mortality is high in individuals with renal dysfunction, it is imperative to understand the pathophysiology behind the disease process. This knowledge may better serve these patients with this syndrome and improve their outcomes. In this review, we examine the key issues of the cardiorenal syndrome from a cardiologist's perspective.
