Summary

A new magnetic compression gastrostomy technique in rats is simple and effective. This method shows promise as an alternative to traditional surgical gastrostomy procedures.

  • No significant difference in burst pressure was found between MG (143 mmHg) and SG (159 mmHg) groups.
  • Fewer adhesions were observed in the MG group compared to the SG group.
  • Two animals in the MG group experienced suspected leaks.

Conclusions:

  • Magnetic compression gastrostomy is technically feasible and simple to perform in rats.
  • This technique presents a potential simple alternative for human gastrostomy procedures.
