Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the frequency of breast cancer diagnosis in women with a prior benign mammogram within a 1-year interval.
  • To assess the potential impact of biennial screening mammography on early breast cancer detection.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective chart review of 205 female patients diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • Inclusion criteria: prior mammograms at the institution, pathologic diagnosis, and previous benign mammograms (BI-RADS 1 or 2).
