Summary

A recurrent pigmented lesion on a 75-year-old man

Background:

  • Seborrheic keratosis is a common benign skin growth.
  • Early diagnosis and treatment of skin lesions are crucial.

Observation:

  • A 75-year-old man presented with a recurrent pigmented macule on his left cheek.
  • Previous diagnosis was seborrheic keratosis treated with cryosurgery and curettage.
  • Dermatoscopy revealed features suggestive of lentigo maligna.

Findings:

  • Histopathology confirmed lentigo maligna melanoma.
  • Breslow tumor thickness was 0.3 mm.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the importance of dermatoscopy in evaluating recurrent or atypical pigmented lesions.
  • Accurate diagnosis is essential to differentiate benign growths from early-stage melanoma.
