Are hepatitis B virus and celiac disease linked?

Background:

• The hypothesis that nonintestinal inflammatory diseases like hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) may trigger celiac disease (CD) in susceptible individuals is debated.

• To assess the prevalence of celiac disease (CD) in patients with a history of childhood hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection.
