- The patient subsequently developed cerebral hemorrhage and sepsis due to Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
Observation:
- Transesophageal echocardiography identified paravalvular abscesses around both the aortic and mitral prosthetic valves.
- This indicated a diagnosis of prosthetic valve endocarditis.
Findings:
- A successful redo double valve replacement surgery was performed.
- Paravalvular abscess cavities were debrided and reconstructed using autologous pericardial patches, followed by the implantation of mechanical valves.
Implications:
- The patient experienced an uneventful postoperative recovery.
- No signs of recurrent infection were observed at the 3-year postoperative follow-up, suggesting the efficacy of the surgical intervention.
