Background:

  • 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) is a potent environmental toxicant.
  • TCDD exposure is known to induce lipid peroxidation, a marker of oxidative stress.
  • Lipid peroxidation can alter cellular membrane structure and function.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the dose- and time-dependent effects of TCDD on lipid peroxidation.
  • To examine TCDD-induced changes in membrane fluidity across different subcellular fractions.
  • To correlate TCDD-induced lipid peroxidation with alterations in membrane fluidity.

Main Methods:

  • Animal models were treated orally with TCDD (50 or 100 µg/kg).
  • Lipid peroxidation was assessed by measuring thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS).
