Background:

Single port laparoscopic surgery (SPLS), also known as single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS), represents an evolution from multi-incisional laparoscopic surgery.
The primary goal of SPLS is to further minimize surgical trauma and reduce visible scarring for patients.

Observation:

The development of novel surgical instruments and bidirectional self-retaining sutures has been crucial for advancing SPLS.
Increased surgeon experience has also contributed to the expanded application of SPLS.

Findings:

SPLS allows for the performance of a variety of surgical procedures within gynecology.
This technique builds upon the established benefits of laparoscopic surgery by consolidating the incision point.
