Does somatostatin analogue prevent experimental acute pancreatitis?

Octreotide, a somatostatin analogue, showed limited benefit in preventing cerulein-induced edematous pancreatitis in rats. While it reduced some markers, it did not significantly alter the overall outcome of this experimental pancreatitis model.
