This study investigated the hypothesis that dominant women are more likely to conceive sons. A Maternal Personality Questionnaire (MPQ) was constructed, using items from Cattell's 16 Personality Factor Questionnaire. Respondents were 85 women, mainly in the first trimester of pregnancy. Those who later bore sons were found to have scored higher on dominance items (p less than .003) than those who later bore daughters.
