Implicit acquisition of grammars with crossed and nested non-adjacent dependencies: investigating the push-down stack

Human language acquisition, unlike animal communication, may rely on non-adjacent dependencies. This study suggests similar learning mechanisms for adjacent and non-adjacent dependencies, challenging a strict push-down stack model for language processing.
