Background:

Nursing theories are foundational to evidence-based practice.
Understanding current theoretical trends is crucial for advancing the discipline.
The past decade has seen significant evolution in nursing theory.

Purpose of the Study:

To explore and synthesize current trends in nursing theories.
To provide an integrated overview of theoretical developments over the last ten years.

Main Methods:

An integrated literature review was conducted.
Searches spanned multiple databases for nursing theory literature from the past decade.
Themes reflecting current trends were identified and analyzed.

Main Results:

Six major themes emerged: focus on specifics, coexistence of diverse theory types, strong links to research, international collaboration, integration into practice, and selective evolution.
Nursing theory is characterized by increasing specificity and a variety of theoretical approaches.
There is a growing emphasis on the practical application and collaborative development of nursing theories.

Conclusions:

Continued efforts are needed to bridge the gap between nursing research and practice through theory.
Future theoretical development should focus on specificity, diversity, and international collaboration.
The findings have implications for guiding future nursing research and practice across various clinical areas.
