Selective immunoglobulin A (IgA) deficiency affects about 2% of celiac disease (CD) patients, with similar rates in adults and children. IgA-deficient adults with CD have a higher risk of other autoimmune diseases.

- Adult CD patients with IgA deficiency/partial deficiency exhibit a greater prevalence of associated autoimmune diseases.
- In IgA-deficient individuals, elevated IgG celiac serologies may persist even with histological improvement on a gluten-free diet.
