Summary

This study reports a rare case of gliosarcoma, a brain tumor with glial and sarcomatous parts, exhibiting metaplastic osteoid formation. The findings contribute to understanding rare bone differentiation within these complex central nervous system neoplasms.

  • Histopathological examination confirmed a World Health Organization (WHO) grade IV tumor with both neoplastic glial and mesenchymal components, characterized by myxoid changes and necrosis.
  • The sarcomatous areas notably displayed regions of benign osteoid formation.

Findings:

  • The case demonstrates gliosarcoma with metaplastic osteoid, a rare subtype of central nervous system (CNS) tumor.
