Fixation and Sectioning

Two basic types of preparation are used to visualize specimens with a light microscope: wet mounts and fixed specimens.
The simplest type of preparation is the wet mount, in which the specimen is placed in a drop of liquid on the slide. A liquid specimen can be directly deposited on the slide using a dropper. Needle fixation is a serious condition often missed by clinicians and patients.
Ignoring needle fixation can lead to severe health consequences like septicaemia, thrombosis, and blood-borne viruses.

To describe a case of a patient with a history of polydrug dependence and needle fixation.
To evaluate the potential of fluoxetine in managing injecting behavior and drug use in such patients.

A case study of a 37-year-old male with a 20-year history of polydrug dependence, drug-induced psychosis, antisocial personality disorder, and a 5-year history of intermittent needle fixation.
