Association between butyrylcholinesterase activity and low-grade systemic inflammation

Butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) levels are linked to inflammation. In males with low inflammation, BChE correlates positively with hsCRP, but negatively with higher inflammation levels in both sexes, suggesting BChE acts as a negative inflammatory marker.
