Summary

Fetus-in-fetu is a rare parasitic twin condition where one fetus grows inside the other. This case highlights its antenatal detection and surgical confirmation in a newborn.

  • Fetus-in-fetu (FIF) is a rare congenital anomaly resulting from asymmetric parasitic twinning.

  • A case of FIF was identified antenatally in a Saudi mother via ultrasound.
  • The condition presented as an intra-abdominal cystic mass in the newborn male infant.

  • Radiological imaging (X-ray, CT) revealed internal structures suggestive of a fetus, including limbs and a vertebral column.
  • Pathological examination confirmed the presence of diverse tissues such as brain, gut-like structures, fingers, and limbs, establishing the diagnosis of FIF.
