Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy and applicability of oral ribosomal immunotherapy in adult PLRD patients.
  • To assess the impact of this therapy on immune responses and physiological parameters.

Main Methods:

  • 100 adult PLRD patients were randomized into two groups: one receiving oral ribosomal immunotherapy (Immucytal®) and the other a placebo.
  • Assessments included medical history, ENT examination, laryngoscopy, immunoglobulin levels, visual analog scale (VAS) for symptoms, reflux symptoms index, and reflux finding score.
  • Data were collected at baseline, end of treatment, and 6 months post-treatment.

Main Results:

  • Patients receiving oral ribosomal immunotherapy showed significant improvements (p < 0.05) in most analyzed parameters.
  • These improvements were observed at the end of treatment and sustained for 6 months post-treatment.

Conclusions:

  • Oral ribosomal therapy induces specific and nonspecific immune responses in the upper respiratory tract mucosa.
  • This immunotherapy leads to physiological improvements in patients with pharyngolaryngeal reflux disease.
