Summary

Hematometrocolpos, a pubertal emergency from vaginal obstruction, requires complex surgical treatment for vaginal atresia. A combined laparoscopic and perineal approach successfully created a neovagina in a patient with distal vaginal atresia.

Observation:

  • A case of hematometrocolpos secondary to distal vaginal atresia in a pubertal patient is presented.
  • The patient exhibited isolated distal vaginal atresia without urogenital sinus abnormalities.

Findings:

  • A successful surgical correction was achieved using a combined abdominal laparoscopic and perineal approach.
  • A posterior vaginoplasty followed by an abdominoperineal pull-through procedure resulted in the successful creation of a neovagina.
